Andrew Pulver made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 2013 as "real Jake" in the Met's premiere of Nico Muhly's Two Boys, originally commissioned by the Met/Lincoln Center Theater. In this role, he was praised for making "a tremendous debut as Jake, singing with a chilling, precise clarity," for "creating an enigmatic, fascinating character," and for his "ringing soprano [which] soars over an ecclesiastical harmony fit for a grand cathedral." New York Classical Review said of his performance: "The most courageous performance of the evening was given by the young Andrew Pulver. The 11-year-old sang with a pure, angelic soprano in the church scene with the chorus and showed acting talent in some demanding--and frankly, hard to watch--scenes of sexuality and violence in Act 2." Additional recent performances include the First Spirit in Mozart's The Magic Flute with Light Opera of New Jersey, Amahl in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors with Light Opera of New Jersey, the Usher in Verdi's Rigoletto with Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice, Marie-Blanche in Offenbach's Mam'zelle Moucheron with the Audray School in New York City, supporting roles in The Magic Flute with the Pineda Lyric Opera Company, and Amahl in Amahl and the Night Visitors with Stony Hill Players. In 2012 Andrew won a scholarship to study operetta in the Audray Competition for Young Singers at Carnegie Hall. Andrew studies voice and piano privately and is a sixth grader at Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child in Summit, New Jersey.
